In Class Midterm: 2/23/25

hot rod

/ˈhät ˌräd/
noun
  1. a motor vehicle that has been specially modified to give it extra power and speed.

Your Assignment:

Sketch up and render one "Hot Rod of the future".  A quick google search will show you that over the history of cars, people have stripped down, hopped up and home built cars with the intention of adding power and speed, but note that your vehicle doesn’t need to look like it was derived from any actual car in particular. I'm more looking for a car in the future with the aesthetic values that screams raw power and attitude.

The reason I’ve picked this as your midterm, is because you’ve now sketched on various proportions from cars to trucks which should give you some ammunition for making this a knock out.

Checklist:

1 front ¾ Sketch

1 Rear ¾ Sketch

2 high quality renderings using all of the techniques that we have gone through so far this semester.

·         Both sketches should be a high level of finish, and the renderings should display your ability to use the techniques and tools you have to communicate the forms and details.

·        Things like perspective (which should NOT be an issue), sketch quality and amount of detail will be factors of you grade, as well as the quality of the finished rendering.

·        You have the length of the class period to take this form idea to finished product so BUDGET YOUR TIME! (Both sketches and final rendering need to be uploaded tonight). Failure to get it uploaded is paramount to failing the midterm, so again… BUDGET YOUR TIME!

A few sketches i found online to get your creative juices flowing:
